The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit, Drug Unit, and Criminal Investigations Division arrested nineteen-year-old Shamar Tyrell Stewart of Macon. Shamar Stewart was wanted in Bibb County in connection with the death of Cortavius Hassan Ates on February 10, 2024.

Shamar Stewart was apprehended after a search and arrest warrant was executed at a residence within the 400 block of Forest Hill Road. He was transported back to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Headquarters. After further investigation, Stewart was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Shamar Tyrell Stewart faces charges of Aggravated Assault, Participation in Criminal Street Gang Activity, and Murder. He does not have a bond.

Second Arrest made in connection with Death Investigation on Jeffersonville Road

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit with the assistance of the Strategic Intelligence Unit, Drug Unit, and the Special Response Team arrests twenty-nine-year-old Marion Antonio Curry of Macon.

Marion Curry was wanted in Bibb County for Aggravated Assault. He was also identified as a person of interest in connection with the death of Cortavius Hassan Ates on February 10, 2024.

Marion Curry was apprehended at a residence within the 2300 block of Ollie Drive during the execution of a search warrant. He was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Headquarters. After further investigation, Curry was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Marion Antonio Curry faces charges of Criminal Street Gang Activity, Aggravated Assault, and Murder. His warrant for Aggravated Assault has been served. He does not have a bond.

Arrest made in connection with Death Investigation on Jeffersonville Road

Kendarrious Cone was wanted in Bibb County for Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana. He was also identified as a person of interest in connection with the death of Cortavius Hassan Ates on February 10, 2024.

Kendarrious Cone was apprehended in Twiggs County during the execution of a search warrant. He was then transported back to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Headquarters. After further investigation, Cone was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Kendarrious Rayshun Cone faces charges of Criminal Street Gang Activity, Aggravated Assault, and Murder. His warrant for Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana has been served. He does not have a bond.

Death Investigation on Jeffersonville Road

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death that occurred near the Jeffersonville Road and Roseview Drive intersection just before 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

The Macon-Bibb E-911 Center received the call at 4:47 p.m., reporting shots fired in the area. Deputies responded to the scene and discovered a twenty-five-year-old male, later identified as Cortavius Hassan Ates, unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Cortavius Ates was later pronounced deceased on the scene by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley. The next of kin has been notified.

Currently, there is no suspect information.
