On May 3, 2019, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigated a single vehicle traffic accident that occurred on I-75 south bound at the Eisenhower Parkway Exit ramp, just before 5:00 p.m. After further investigation it was discovered that the female occupant in the vehicle was not the driver of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle identified as 25-year-old Torrence Lockhart, of Oglethorpe Georgia, lost control of the vehicle and went off the road into the woods. The vehicle then burst into flames. Several passerby’s helped get Lockhart and passenger 29-year-old Andrea Simmons also of Oglethorpe Georgia, out of the vehicle.
Simmons was transported to the Navicent hospital and is listed in stable condition. Lockhart was transported by helicopter to Grady hospital in Atlanta and is listed in critical condition.
According to Coroner Leon Jones, Torrence Lockhart was pronounced dead at the Grady Burn Center in Atlanta at around 2:52 a.m. Thursday morning, May 16, 2019.
Simmons has been released from the hospital.
