The South Eastern Regional Fugitive Task Force and members of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Patrol division, arrested a 33 year old male suspect that was wanted for multiple warrants. A second male suspect will also be taken into custody for hindering and multiple traffic charges.
A Crime stoppers tip was called in and that led law enforcement officials to the location of 33 year old Benjamin Lanier Statham Jr., of Macon. Members of the South Eastern Regional Fugitive Task Force located Statham, in the passenger seat of a Ford Ranger truck. The truck was being driven by 47 year old Johnny Carl Sandefur Jr. of Lizella.
Members of the Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division attempted to take Statham into custody, in a parking lot, near the McDonalds that is located on Harrison Road. Sandefur led law enforcement officers on a short pursuit that ended on Log Cabin Drive. Sandefur lost control of his vehicle, went off of the road way. Sandefur’s vehicle overturned, near a bridge that crossed over a small creek. Both men were apprehended. Law Enforcement Officials also recovered two handguns during this incident.
Both Statham and Sandefur were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries that they received from the traffic accident. Both men are listed to be in stable condition.
Once both men are released from the hospital, they will be taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
