Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a traffic accident with injuries just after 8:00AM this morning on Mumford Road at Case Street. It was reported that 69 year old Mary Deshazer of Macon was driving a 2014 Bluebird School Bus, owned by the Bibb County Board of Education. Deshazer made a left turn onto Mumford Road from the eastbound lane of Case Street and struck a 1991 Ford Explorer in the side, driven by 56 year old Jill Soltis of Macon. Soltis was traveling westbound on Mumford Road when her vehicle was struck. The collision caused the Ford Explorer to roll over.
Soltis was transported to the Navicent Health by ambulance for minor injuries. She is listed in stable condition. There were two children on the school bus. No one on the school bus was injured. According to the deputy investigating the accident, Deshazer’s sight was obstructed by the sunlight and she failed to yield the right of way.
