The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a traffic accident involving a child/pedestrian. It was reported that at around 4:33p.m. , two year old Dedruis Jones was playing in the front yard with his parents when he suddenly took off and ran down the driveway, towards the road. The child ran into the road and was struck by a 2010 Ford Explorer, driven by Steven Callison of Dry Branch.
Callison stated that he was traveling west on Ell Street when he noticed a small child running towards the road from a driveway. Callison attempted to avoid colliding with the child by slamming on the brakes, but was unsuccessful in his attempt.
Paramedics arrived on the scene and transported Jones to a local hospital. Jones is listed to be in serious but stable condition. No one else was injured during this incident.
