Traffic traveling east into town on Forsyth Street is being detoured temporarily due to a damaged Georgia Power Pole struck during an accident that occurred earlier Wednesday morning just before 5:00 a.m. It was reported that the driver of a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe, 21 year old Jackson Moore of Juliette Georgia, was traveling east on Forsyth Street in the 1900 block when a deer ran out in front of his vehicle causing him to run off the right side of the road, striking several signs and a Georgia Power Pole. Moore was not injured in the accident.

At 9:30 a.m. this morning Georgia Power Crews were preparing to cut the power in that area to replace the pole. It is estimated that this section of Forsyth Street from Holt Avenue east to the I-75 underpass will be closed to all traffic for approximately 5 hours. Traffic traveling east on Vineville Avenue is being detoured onto Holt Avenue temporarily. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office urge motorist to use an alternate route and avoid this area until the road is reopened. We will make the notification once the road is reopened.
