On August 30, 2019, at 10:14 a.m. Bibb County Sheriff’s Patrol deputies were checking the area near 2760 Montpelier Avenue, M&M Groceries when they spotted a known drug dealer leaving the store.

Deputies made contact with 45-year-old Rashan Ali Harris, of Macon. While talking to Harris deputies could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from his person. Harris told deputies that he did not have anything, but did confess to hiding something in the store. Deputies talked with the store clerk, checked the cameras and found where Harris stashed an object in a display stand.

Deputies checked the stand and found a .22 caliber revolver, several small bags of marijuana and several pills wrapped in plastic. Based on the video and the statement from Harris he was arrested.

Harris was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance. He is being held without bond at this time.
