On March 31, 2019 just before 12:30pm Bibb County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies were responding to a call in 1500 block of Wellworth Avenue when they saw a vehicle parked in front of the residence for a disturbance. When the deputy went to make contact with the drive he exited his vehicle.

The deputy smelled a strong odor of Marijuana coming from the driver, 37 year-old Jerry Lee Neal. When the deputy started asking questions Neal began backing away as if to run. When the deputy told him to stop Neal began running away but the deputy was able to catch him a short distance away. When the deputy tried to put Neal in handcuffs he began fighting. The deputy was able to detain Neal after a brief struggle. The passenger that was in the car fled on foot while the deputy was detaining Neal.

The deputy conducted a search of the vehicle and located two containers of Marijuana and three pills of Ecstasy.

Neal was arrested and taken to the Bibb County Jail. He was charged with Possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance, Marijuana Possession Less Than an Ounce and Willful Obstruction of a Peace Officer. Neal was released on $11,050.00 bond.
