On Monday afternoon, Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators and members of the Federal Bureau of Investigations, arrested a suspect in connection with the Truist Bank Armed Robbery that took place on February 16, 2023.

Through the course of the investigation, Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators identified the suspect as 28- year-old Gabriel Michael Bell. He was interviewed at the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division about the bank robbery. After the interview, Bell was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center and charged in connection with this investigation.

Bell is currently being held in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center for the charges of Armed Robbery, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon. Bell does not have a bond.

Commercial Robbery Investigation at Truist Bank

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of a commercial armed robbery that took place at the Truist bank, located at 2998 Riverside Dr. The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at around 3:19 p.m.

It was reported that a masked individual, armed with a handgun, entered the bank and slid a note to the bank teller. The note indicated that the individual was demanding money from the bank. Once the individual received an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled the bank. He was last seen running towards the wood line that is located behind the bank.

The individual was described as a black male. He was around 20 to 30 years of age. He was approximately 5 feet 6 inches in height. Witnesses stated that he was wearing a white mask and had on all black clothing.

This investigation is in its preliminary stage and additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
