On March 20, 2016 just before 9:00p.m. a Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling near Pendleton Homes, 3401 Houston Ave., when a suspect was spotted driving without headlights on a brown colored Ford Crown Victoria. As the Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle on Newburg Ave., the suspect fled onto Evergreen Dr. towards Hightower Rd. As the driver tried to turn onto Hightower Rd from Evergreen Dr., he lost control and ran into the ditch on Hightower Rd.
The suspect fled the area on foot, but was later arrested at his home without incident. The suspect was identified as 30 year old Demario Chantez Riggins of Macon.
Riggins was charged with Driving without Headlights on, Reckless Driving and Felony Fleeing and Eluding of Peace Officer. He was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
The passenger, 21 year old Antonio Walker, of Macon ,was transported to the Navicent Center Hospital and is listed as being in good condition, no injuries according to the Navicent Health.
