On August 9, 2019, at 6:33 p.m. Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were checking the area of Mumford Road and Case Street when they witnessed a black Lincoln Town Car fail to stop at the stop sign.
Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle but the driver would not stop. After a short chase, the suspect wrecked into another vehicle. The driver was then detained and identified as 33-year-old Charles Allen Franklin, of Macon. The driver of the vehicle that Franklin hit was transported to the Navicent Health Medical Center for minor injuries and was listed in stable condition.
Deputies searched Franklin’s vehicle and located two large bags of Marijuana and a Smith & Wesson revolver along with other drug paraphernalia.
Franklin was taken to the Bibb County Jail, after receiving treatment for his minor injuries, and charged with Fleeing and Eluding Police Felony, six counts of Traffic Violations, Reckless Conduct, Driving While Unlicensed, Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Distribute, two counts of Possession of Marijuana within 1,000 feet of a School, Possession of a Firearm By Convicted Felon, Possession of Firearm During Commission of a Felony. Franklin also had a warrant for Violation of Probation and two warrants for Simple Battery Family Violence. He is being held on a bond of $7,500.00 at this time.
