On August 29, 2019, at 12:08 a.m. Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were patrolling the area of Third Street and Cherry Street when they noticed multiple individuals in the park. Deputies recognized one of the individuals as being 43-year-old Derrick Montrell Simmons, of Macon.
Deputies previously arrested Simmons on a prior date for having drugs in his possession. While deputies were talking with Simmons he was acting nervous and trying to walk away. He was then led to a table and instructed to empty his pockets. While emptying his pockets he threw a clear bag containing marijuana on the ground. When deputies searched him they found another bag with two Xanax pills and Methamphetamine in it.
Simmons was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with Possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance, with Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana less than an Ounce. He is being held on a $32,200.00 bond at this time.
