On September 27, 2019 at 01:18 a.m., Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies responded to the Flash Foods located at 4314 Pio Nono Avenue, in regards to subjects shoplifting cases of beer.

Deputies were informed that two black males entered the store and removed three cases of Budlight and three cases of Budweiser beer, without paying for the merchandise. The clerk recognized one of the suspects as 29-year-old Benjamin Eugene Reese Jr., of Macon. 

At 03:01 a.m., Patrol deputies spotted a black Nissan Sentra with an expired tag that matched the vehicle used in the Flash Foods theft. When deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop at Pio Nono Avenue and Hightower Road, the driver of the vehicle refused to stop.

After leading deputies on a short chase, the driver pulled into a vacant house lot and gave up. Deputies determined that Reese was driving the vehicle and beer from the theft was also found inside the Nissan Sentra.  Deputies determined Reese was drinking while driving, driving without a license and also driving with a tag that did not match the vehicle.

Reese was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with Theft by Shoplifting, Felony Fleeing and Eluding, Driving While Unlicensed, Affixing Tag with Intent to Conceal Vehicle Identification, Expired Tag and Open Container. Reese also has a warrant out of the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office for his arrest. He is being held on a $5,650.00 bond at this time.
