The Bibb Sheriff’s Office is asking for the citizens who are traveling in the Mercer University College area to be aware of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure that will be starting just before 9:00a.m., Saturday morning, September 26, 2015.
The race will begin at 9:00a.m., but traffic congestion is expected as early as 7:00a.m., on Saturday morning. During this event, there will be several road closures and traffic detours to help ensure the safety of those who will be participating. Motorists are asked to be aware of the race around Mercer University, Tattnall Square Park, and Forsyth Street areas. The race will start and finish on Stadium Drive by Mercer University’s football stadium.
The following roads will be closed and traffic will be rerouted:
Montpelier Ave at Carling Ave
Coleman Ave @ Linden Ave
Oglethorpe St from Adams St to Calhoun St
Forsyth St @ Monroe St-southbound traffic will not allowed to enter from Monroe Street
One lane of Forsyth St closed for race from Monroe St to College St
College St @ Forsyth St-no traffic allowed to go south on College St (toward roundabout)
from Forsyth Street
Ash St @ Calhoun St blocked to northwest traffic (toward Mercer University Drive)
