Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputy Fires Shots At Stolen Vehicle

A Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputy was at the Fine Fair Grocery, located at 3741 Napier Avenue when he was approached just after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night by a black male that stated his vehicle had just been stolen from the Marathon Gas Station, located at 3102 Napier Avenue. The deputy gave a lookout over the radio of the stolen vehicle which is a 1998 Mercedes ML320 SUV, burgundy in color, bearing Georgia tag number QB14237.

The vehicle was spotted by Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputy David Whigham on Log Cabin Drive at Eisenhower Parkway. Deputy Whigham got behind the vehicle following it as he was verifying the stolen vehicle information.  The Mercedes ended up on Bloomfield Drive and made a left turn into Sandy Springs Apartments located at 3044 Bloomfield Drive. Deputy Whigham attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle drove all the way down to the end of the complex and stopped. The passenger of the Mercedes jumped out and ran. The vehicle sped away out of the apartment complex last seen making a right onto Bloomfield Drive. There were no injuries reported.
