Bibb County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies answered a call of a person that was robbed at Hidden Lake Apartments, located at 180 Hidden Lakes Court at around 10:25 p.m. Sunday night. Deputies were told to meet the victim at the Flash Foods, located at 3391 Mercer University Drive. When deputies arrived at the store they met with the victim, Rodney Parker.
Parker told deputies that he had just arrived home at his apartment when he was approached by a black male who was pointing a gun at him. The suspect grabbed Parker’s phone and demanded money. Parker told the suspect he did not have any money and that all he had was his debit card. The suspect made Parker get back into his vehicle and Parker drove to the Flash Foods Store. When they arrived at the store both men exited the vehicle. The suspect left the gun in the vehicle. Both went inside the store and Parker withdrew $20.00 from the ATM Machine. As soon as the suspect turned his back, Parker jumped on the suspect.
Parker said an employee in the store saw them and tried to pull them apart. Parker said he tried to tell the employee that the suspect was robbing him. Parker and the suspect ended up back outside as they were fighting until the employee pulled them apart and the suspect ran away on foot. Parker’s phone was tracked to Westminster Apartments located at 1655 North Atwood Drive, but deputies were unable to locate the phone. The gun was recovered from Parkers vehicle. The gun turned out to be a BB Gun Pistol. The black male suspect is described as being 5 feet 8 inches in height and weighing approximately 175 pounds. No further information is available on the suspect. Investigators are checking to see if there is video surveillance footage of the incident.
