Bibb County Sheriff‘s Office deputies along with the U.S. Marshals Office were following up on leads in reference to the four escaped inmates.
It was reported that members of the U.S. Marshal Service approached The Pines on Vineville, located at 2020 Vineville Ave., just before 7:00 a.m. When U.S. Marshals knocked on the door of the apartment, a male subject answered from behind the closed door. U.S. Marshals then announced themselves and were met by gunfire that came through the closed apartment door. The Marshals Service then called for the assistance of the Bibb County Sheriff‘s Office SWAT Team.
Once the SWAT Team was on the scene, they were met by a subject that was inside of the apartment when the gunfire occurred. The subject advised that a male subject was down from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The male subject was identified as 23-year-old Christian Demond Williams. Williams was reported to have been kidnapped on March 6, 2023, hours before he was due in court for his 2021 murder charges. Williams was transported to the hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Christian Williams’s involvement in the incident of the four escaped inmates is currently under investigation.
