The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office participated in a multi-agency operation that resulted in the seizure of fifty-four firearms, and the arrests of fifty individuals. Participating in this forty day operation were members of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, A.T.F. (Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms), the Department of Community Supervision, the Bibb County District Attorney’s Office, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia.

Members of Operation United Front organized traffic enforcement details, served warrants on wanted felons, and conducted several undercover operations. Fifty arrests were made for various charges during this operation.

In the process of this operation, over fifty-four firearms were taken off the streets, of which five of those were reported stolen. Two of the firearms that were recovered had altered serial numbers.  The shell casings from these recovered firearms will be ran through the N.I.B.I.N. (National Integrated Ballistics Information Network) system to see if they had been used in any criminal incidents.

Operation United Front utilized statistical data and proactive enforcement actions in the areas most impacted by gun violence and violent criminal behavior. The resources from each of these agencies was used to target the drivers of gun violence, seize guns from those who may use them to perpetrate violence in our community, and apprehend those who have sought to make this community less safe and more dangerous.

Data from “shots fired” calls helped to determine “hot spot” locations in Macon-Bibb County that needed to be targeted to combat this criminal activity.
