Curtis Dewayne Jackson Jr., 22 years old, has been extradited back to Bibb County after being arrested in Killeen Texas on January 31, 2016. . He was booked into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center at around 3:45PM Wednesday. Jackson is charged with murder in the homicide of Vernard Mays that occurred on October 27, 2015.  He is also charged with 2 felony probation violations and a bond surrender.

Jackson has no bond set at this time.

Update: Murder Suspect Arrested In Killeen Texas

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit received information during the continued investigation of the Vernard Mays homicide that led them to believe that murder suspect Curtis Dewayne Jackson Jr. was possibly in Killeen Texas. The tip came through Macon Regional Crimestoppers.  On Saturday, January 30, 2016 Investigators contacted the Killeen Police Department to advise them of the murder warrant for Jackson and to also let them know he was possibly in the Killeen area.

Investigators from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Gang Unit received information just before 2:00PM today that Jackson had been picked up on the murder warrant by the Killeen Police Department’s Special Investigations Division. He was transported to the Killeen City Jail where he is awaiting extradition back to Macon.

Bibb Sheriff David Davis said, “Our investigators were relentless in pursuing leads on this case and we are thankful to the Killeen officers who helped bring this case to fruition. We are also grateful to the tipster who called CrimeStoppers to provide useful information. Vernard is missed every day and we hope this arrest helps bring some more closure to his family and coworkers.”

Public’s Assistance in Locating Murder Suspect

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 22 year old Curtis Dewayne Jackson Jr. Jackson has a murder warrant issued for his arrest in connection with the murder of 23 year old Vernard Mays that occurred on October 27, 2015 at 2417 Second Street. Jackson is a black male. He is 6 foot 4 inches in height and weighs approximately 200 pounds. Jackson is from Macon but may be in the Atlanta area.
