The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies along with the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 20-year-old James Lee Card in connection to the Murder of 19-year-old Marquez Card on July 7, 2021.

It was reported that James Card was located in a residence in the 1000 block of Hillyer Avenue. James was found hiding in a closet of the residence. He was taken into custody without incident. He was located just after 02:00 a.m.

James Card was transported to the Bibb County jail and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault and Murder. He is being held without bond at this time.

MEDIA RELEASE: Asking for Public’s Assistance In Locating A Wanted Person In Connection with A Homicide Investigation

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating an individual that is wanted in connection with the Homicide Investigation of 19-year-old Marquez Card. The incident occurred on July 7, 2021, in the 1200 block of Dewey Street.

Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in helping locate 20-year-old James Lee Card in reference to this incident. It was reported that James Lee Card fatally shot his brother, Marquez Card, during an altercation. A warrant has been issued for his arrest for the charge of Murder.

MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE: Homicide Investigation on Dewey Street

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an Aggravated Assault that was reported to have occurred in the 1200 block of Dewey St. The incident took place on July 7, 2021 at 1:07 p.m.

According to witnesses, there was an altercation between two individuals. During the altercation, one individual was shot by gunfire.

The wounded male, 19-year-old Marquez Card, was transported to the Atrium Health Navicent for treatment of a gunshot wound.Card later died of his injuries and was pronounced deceased by the Bibb County Coroner’s Office at 3:03 p.m. Sunday afternoon. According to the Bibb County Coroner’s Office, the next of kin has been notified.

Aggravated Assault Investigation at Dewey Street

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an Aggravated Assault incident that was reported to have occurred in the 1200 block of Dewey St. at 1:07 p.m.

It was reported there was an altercation between individuals. During the altercation, one individual was shot by gunfire.

The wounded male was transported to the Atrium Health Navicent for treatment of a gunshot wound. He is listed to be in critical condition.

Another male, involved in the shooting, fled the scene in an unknown direction. No one else was reported injured during this incident.
