The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigated 4 separate traffic accidents that occurred within minutes of each other. At around 1:30PM Friday afternoon,  Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an accident on I-75 South between Pierce Avenue and the I-75 South/I-16 East interchange.

 

It was reported that Eduardo Delgado, 16 years old of Vidalia Georgia was traveling south on I-75 when traffic suddenly slowed down to a stop. Delgado stated as he was braking to stop, his vehicle was struck from behind by a 2000 GMC Jimmy, driven by 18 year old Bryce Tryan of Bonaire Georgia. Tryan told deputies that he tried to stop his vehicle but could not before striking the Ram pickup in the rear. Tryan was charged with following too close. A passenger in Delgado’s vehicle complained of an injury but did not wish to be transported to a hospital to be checked.

 

The second accident occurred on I-75 South just behind the first accident. It was reported to deputies that 24 year old Justin Dikes of Smyrna Georgia was traveling south in his 2014 Kia Forte when he had to stop because of a vehicle accident ahead. He told deputies he was struck by the vehicle behind him which was a 1996 Toyota Camry. The Camry was driven by 42 year old Kelvin Colbert of Statesboro Georgia. Colbert was charged with following too close and too fast for conditions. No one was injured in the accident.

 

The third accident occurred behind the second accident on I-75 South. It was reported to deputies at the scene that a 2004 Nissan Sentra, driven by 25 year old Casey Smith of Macon, was traveling south and saw traffic in front of her stopping. She stopped her vehicle and was struck in the rear of the Sentra by a 2008 Lincoln MKX, driven by 33 year old Genleah Swain of Tallahassee Florida. Swain told deputies she could not stop before striking the rear of the Sentra. Swain was charged with following too close. No one was injured in this accident.

 

The fourth accident occurred on I-75 South just behind the third accident. It was reported to deputies that 35 year old Samara Buckner of Tennessee was traveling south in her 2015 Dodge Charger when she had to stop because traffic in front of her stopped. The Dodge Charger was struck in the rear by a 2001 Jeep Wrangler driven by 31 year old Geneva Darrah of Tennessee. Darrah was charged with following too close. No one was injured in the accident.
