Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a person with a gun this afternoon just before 5:15p.m. at the Fed Ex located at 2750 Roff Avenue.  It was reported that a male, described as Asian, was angry with employees and was threatening them with a gun. Witnesses reported the man came into the Fed Ex to pick up a large automotive part. When employees would not release it to him, the man became irate. While Deputy Martin was enroute to the location he received updated information that the man had fled the store.

Deputy Martin found the man on Roy Street at Bell Avenue. Before he could exit the vehicle, the man ran up Roy Street towards Roy Street Lane. The deputy followed in his patrol vehicle, giving his location to the radio dispatcher. As the deputy approached the man at Roy Street Lane, still in his patrol vehicle, the man pointed a gun to his head and shot himself. The incident was recorded on the deputy’s in-car camera. The man was transported to the Navicent Health Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Bibb County Coroner has released the name of the man as 28 year old, Joshua Thomas.
