A Macon Man was arrested for Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault warrants after attempting to shoplift a pair of socks at the Academy Sports, located at 1689 Eisenhower Parkway, around 11:05a.m., Tuesday morning. A Bibb County Patrol Deputy was patrolling through the front parking lot when he saw a man walk out of the store after triggering the store’s anti-theft alarm system.

The deputy stopped the man and identified him as 22-year-old Keonte Marquis Ray from Macon. Ray was attempting to conceal a pair of “Nike” socks inside of his pants. The socks are valued at $28.00 and have an anti-theft security strip attached that set off the alarm as Ray attempted to leave the store, without paying for the merchandise.

The deputy ran Ray’s information for warrants and discovered that he was wanted for the charges of Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault from an incident that took place on Goodwin Drive, February 2, 2015. * (See attached media release from February 2, 2015)

Ray received a court summons for the shoplifting incident that took place at Academy Sports. He was transported and is currently being held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, without bond, for the charges of Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, and Probation Violation Superior Court.
