Bibb County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies arrested a Macon man after a brief pursuit that started at around 11:40a.m. A Bibb Sheriff’s Patrol Deputy was patrolling the parking lot of the CVS, located at 158 Emery Highway.  A CVS employee ran outside of the pharmacy, flagged down the patrol deputy and stated that a male suspect just robbed the store and then pointed at a male suspect who was seen running from the business. The suspect jumped into a red in color Ford F150 and fled the parking lot.

The suspect led deputies on a pursuit from Emery Hwy to Interstate 16 and then down Interstate 75.  During the pursuit the suspect blew out his driver’s side rear tire as he struck a curb. The suspect continued to drive south on the interstate, striking the push bumper of a marked patrol vehicle and then he losing control of his vehicle after colliding with an unmarked patrol vehicle. The suspect’s Ford truck spun around and wrecked into the center retaining wall. The suspect attempted to flee the accident scene in the truck, but stalled. He exited the truck and began to run on foot. Patrol deputies apprehended the suspect after a brief foot pursuit and placed him under arrest.  No one was injured during this incident. The patrol vehicle and unmarked vehicle received minor damage. 

Thomas Wayne Brooks, age 41 from Macon was charged with Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer  and Aggressive Driving. Brooks is being held with a bond of $4,800.00, in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Complex. 

After further investigation into the allegations from the CVS Pharmacy, Brooks did not rob the store. Brook is being accused of shoplifting.  Additional charges are pending.
