Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies along with the U.S. Marshals Southeast Fugitive Task Force arrested a Macon man in connection to the July 29, 2020, shooting death of 29-year-old Kenneth Bernard Campbell.

After receiving a Crimestoppers tip, deputies and Marshals located 26-year-old Trevarus Demonte Kendrick, at a residence in the 1800 block of Swan Drive. Kendrick was taken into custody without incident, inside the residence at 09:40 a.m.

Kendrick was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigations office for questioning. He was later transported to the Bibb County Jail and charged with Murder. Kendrick is being held without bond at this time.

Update: Aggravated Assault Investigation on Pio Nono Avenue

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating ahomicide that took place near the shopping center located in the 1400 block of Pio Nono Avenue. The incident was reported to have happened at 5:46 p.m.

According to witness statements, a fight broke out between several individuals in the parking lot of the Little Caesars, located at 1477 Pio Nono Avenue. A male individual, 29-year-old Kenneth Bernard Campbell, left the parking lot and drove down Montpelier Avenue. Campbell returned back to the area and was reported to have been shot while driving on Montpelier Avenue, near the Little Caesars and Chevron gas station.

Campbell lost control of his vehicle and drove over a water main, located next to Little Caesars, before coming to a complete stop.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived on scene and found Campbell unresponsive. The deputies removed Campbell from the vehicle and performed C.P.R., (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), until paramedics arrived.

Campbell was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Kenneth Campbell later died at the hospital. The next of kin has been notified.

Investigators are continuing to speak with possible witnesses, in an attempt to gather information in reference to the events surrounding the shooting. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
