On April 30, 2023, at 5:05 p.m., deputies responded to shots fired at 2487 Rocky Creek Road (Melody’s Magic Mart). When deputies arrived, witnesses reported multiple armed individuals on Rocky Creek Road and Elkan Avenue, shot at a vehicle that was in the store’s parking lot. Both the vehicle and business were struck by gunfire. The suspects fled the scene. The victims inside the vehicle and business were unharmed.
On May 1, 2023, at 9:57p.m., at a residence on Mint Green Lane, multiple armed individuals brandished firearms at an adult male, female and an infant inside of a vehicle in the residence’s driveway. The suspects demanded the vehicle, forcing the occupants out. The suspect’s occupied the vehicle and fled the area. Bibb County deputies responded to the scene to investigate. No one was harmed.
On May 2, 2023, after 5:00p.m., the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators made four arrests in connection with the Aggravated Assault incident which took place on April 30, 2023, and the Armed Robbery and Motor Vehicle Hijacking incident which took place on May 1st. Five guns were located and recovered. The vehicle that was hijacked was also located and recovered from the 2400 block of Brevard Drive. All four suspects were apprehended in the Bloomfield area and transported to headquarters for questioning.
The individuals arrested are, 15-year-old juvenile Kristopher Whitaker and 13-year-old juvenile Kendell Whitaker of Macon was charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault, Armed Robbery, and Motor Vehicle Hijacking. Both juveniles were transported to the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center. Both juveniles will be charged as adults. 18-year-old Brandon Denard Dean of Macon was charged with Misdemeanor Marijuana Possession and Possession of a Firearm. 17-year-old Raheem Seree Smith of Macon was charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During a Felony and Criminal Street Gang Activity. Dean and Smith were transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
On the morning of May 3, 2023, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators apprehended a person of interest in this investigation. He was transported to headquarters and questioned.
The person of interest identified as 17-year-old Wali Cooke of Macon was arrested and charged for Armed Robbery, Motor Vehicle Hijacking, and Aggravated Assault. Wali Cooke was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
