The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Interstate 75 South near the Pierce Avenue On-Ramp. The accident was called into the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center at 1:43 p.m., on November 27, 2023, Monday afternoon.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered a collision involving five motor vehicles. A box truck, three pickup trucks, and a sports utility vehicle were involved in the collision. One male motorist was discovered to have succumbed to his injuries sustained from the collision. According to Coroner Leon Jones, the next of kin has not been notified. Three other motorists were treated by paramedics for injuries sustained and transported to a medical facility. Two motorists were observed to have minor injuries.
Investigators are on the scene working to determine what occurred during the collision. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
