The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred at the intersection of Columbus Road and Cavalier Drive. The accident was called into the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center at 5:39 p.m., Monday evening.
It was reported that a motorcyclist traveling west on Columbus Road collided with a motorist of a BMW X3 turning onto Columbus Road from Cavalier Drive. Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the motorcyclist to Atrium Navicent Healthcare to be treated for his injuries. The motorcyclist was identified as forty-nine-year-old Willard Owen Gilbow of Macon. According to Coroner Leon Jones, Willard Gilbow succumbed to his injuries. The next of kin has been notified. No one else was injured during the collision.
The collision is currently under investigation.
