The Bibb Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident involving a female pedestrian that took place at the intersection of Broadway and Houston Ave around 8:24 p.m. Tuesday night.
Witnesses stated that pedestrian, 48 year old Martha Ard of Macon and her son 25 year old Christopher Greene of Macon was crossing Pio Nono Ave from the BP gas station to the intersection of Broadway and Houston Ave. Once Ard stepped off the cross walk she was struck by a 1999 Oldsmobile 88, driven by 95 year old David Grant of Macon. The Oldsmobile was traveling north from Interstate 247 through the green light onto Houston Ave when the fatal accident occurred.
Ard was transported to the Coliseum Hospital by ambulance. She was pronounced dead at 10:00p.m., according to Coroner Miley. The next of kin has been notified. No one else was injured during this incident.
