The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred on Pio Nono Ave near Sherry Dr. just after 07:20 p.m. Tuesday. It was reported that 48 year old Michael Dewayne Hughes Sr. of Macon was crossing Pio Nono Ave when he was struck by a Jeep Sahara Unlimited driven by 68 year old Willie Tookes of Macon GA. Hughes was transported to the Navicent Health where he was pronounced dead. The next of kin was notified by Assistant Coroner Miley. The roadway has been cleared and is open.
