The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred on Ga. Highway 247 near Griffin Road at 5:13 p.m.
It was reported that 54-year-old Augustine Vega was attempting to retrieve a ladder that had fallen from a vehicle he was a passenger of. When Vega stepped into the roadway, he was struck by a Chevrolet C/K 1500 truck driven by 54-year-old Richard Whipple of Macon.
Vega was transported to the Navicent Health Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased. The next of kin has been notified by Coroner Lonnie Miley. No one else was injured in the accident. No charges have been filed at this time.
