The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and Macon-Bibb Fire Department responded to a house fire at 3724 Dorothy Drive, shortly after 3:10pm today. According to witness statements, a gentleman who was visiting a nearby neighbor noticed smoke coming from the house. The gentleman and one of the neighbors who lived next door to the residence, made entry into the home and pulled a deceased female to the front yard and away from the fire.
The Fire Department arrived and was able to extinguish the fire.
According to Coroner Leon Jones, 58 year old Audrey Parks was pronounced dead at the scene. Parks will be transported to the GBI Crime lab where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. This incident is under investigation. The next of kin has been notified.
Arson Investigators from the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department along with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigators are handling the investigation at this time.
