Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies along with firefighters with the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1854 Winston Drive just after 7:00 a.m. Friday morning. The outside doors were locked and the firefighters made entry through the front porch window. Once inside the home the fire was contained and a male was located in the kitchen area of the home. The male was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as 74 year old Willie Gross. Mr. Gross lived at the address.
Investigators with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene and are working with the Macon-Bibb Fire Department’s Arson Investigator. Foul play is not suspected at this time. An autopsy will be performed on the deceased.
