The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal construction accident that took place at the Quality Inn, located at 4630 Chambers Road. The incident occurred at 10:35 a.m.

It was reported that workers were repairing the sign for the Quality Inn when there was equipment failure. The sign for Quality Inn, which was suspended from a Rosson Sign Company boom truck, fell onto three workers. The workers were transported to the Navicent Health Medical Center for treatment.

18-year-old Johnny C.H. Stewart, of Macon, was pronounced deceased by medical staff. The two other workers, a 52-year-old male, and a 62-year-old male, both of Macon, are listed in stable condition at this time. No one else was injured during the incident.

According to the coroner’s office, the next of kin has been notified.
