The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a drowning that occurred at the Amerson Water Works Park, located at 2600 Riverview Road. The incident took place at around 7:17 p.m.
Witnesses stated that 24-year-old Qytravious Marquis Brown drowned while swimming with friends in the Ocmulgee River. Bibb Sheriff’s Deputies, members of the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department, and the Department of Natural Resources responded to the scene. Brown’s body was found approximately 100 yards downstream from where he was reported to have gone under the water. He located approximately 30 mins after the drowning was reported.
The family was notified by the Coroner’s Office. Brown’s body was taken to the Crime Lab for an autopsy.
