On June 14, 2023, just before 2:00 a.m., a suspect was taken into custody in connection with a commercial burglary.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglar alarm at Family Dollar located at 160 Emery Highway at 12:20 a.m. Deputies arrived within four minutes and discovered a window to the business had been shattered. The deputy entered and checked the business for the suspect who was not inside. Upon reviewing the in-store video surveillance, the suspect was viewed throwing a brick through the window. He entered the business and grabbed multiple containers of detergent, then fled the business. The suspect was a tall black male wearing a camouflage jacket, blue jeans, and red shoes.

The deputy recognized the suspect as sixty-year-old Oscar Alexander Jones of Macon. Jones was wanted in Bibb County with several warrants for burglary. Oscar Jones was located and apprehended on Little Short Street, less than a mile away from the store. He was wearing the same clothes that he was wearing when he burglarized the store.

Oscar Alexander Jones was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center where his outstanding warrants were served. He was charged with Felony Burglary. His bond has been denied.
