The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death, involving a male that was shot and then wrecked his vehicle in the 2800 block of Broadway. This incident was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at around 8:35 p.m., Friday night.

According to witness statements, shots were fired near the area of Spike Street and Broadway. A silver Honda Accord was seen turning onto Broadway from Spike Street, when the shots were fired. The Honda headed south on Broadway. The driver of the Honda lost control of the vehicle, went off the roadway ,and then collided with a pole and a parked box truck.

Investigators discovered that the driver was the victim of a gunshot wound that occurred prior to the traffic collision.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by Deputy Coroner Miley. The victim was identified as 26-year-old Monquencio Johnson. According to Deputy Coroner Miley, the next of kin has been notified.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
