The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of a commercial armed robbery that took place at the Truist bank, located at 2998 Riverside Dr. The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at 3:19p.m.
It was reported that a masked individual, armed with a handgun, entered the bank and slid a note to the bank teller. The note indicated that the individual was demanding money from the bank. Once the individual received an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled the bank. He was last seen running towards the wood line that is located behind the bank.
The individual was described as a black male. He was around 20 to 30 years of age. He was approximately 5 feet 6 inches in height. Witnesses stated that he was wearing a white mask and had on all black clothing.
This investigation is in its preliminary stage and additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
