The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a commercial armed robbery that occurred just before 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Red Carpet Inn located at 2870 Jeffersonville Road. It was reported that two black males entered the store one suspect carrying a handgun. When the suspects entered the store, one of the suspects pointed a pistol at the hotel owner. The second suspect acted as a lookout. The first suspect handed over a backpack to the owner and demanded money. The owner returned the backpack thinking it was a hoax stating “You’re joking “. The suspect then tossed the backpack back and stated it was for real.  The suspect then attempted to jump over the counter but was pushed back over by the owner. The owner was able to run for cover as the suspect fired one shot at him.  After grabbing the money out of the cash register the two suspects fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured during the incident.

The first suspect was reported to be wearing a blue tank top shirt, black jeans; a shirt covering his face and a black backpack. The second suspects were reported to be wearing a dark gray hoodie coving his face.  No further information is available at this time.
