Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators have upgraded the charge on 40 year old Calvin Stapleton to Murder. The Murder warrant was signed and served on Stapleton Wednesday morning at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center where he remains without bond.

The victim, 39 year old Andre Taylor was pronounced dead at the Navicent Health Hospital at around 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators Make Arrest In Shooting At Montpelier Avenue Store

Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested 40 year old Calvin Stapleton for the shooting of 39 year old Andre Taylor that occurred at the M&M Grocery located at 2760 Montpelier Avenue just before 12:45 p.m. Monday afternoon.

It was reported that Stapleton and Taylor were having a verbal argument in the parking lot of the store on Monday. During the argument Taylor started to walk away. Stapleton pulled out a pistol and shot Taylor in the head. After shooting Taylor, Stapleton fled the scene on foot before deputies arrived.

Stapleton turned himself in to investigators Monday night just after 11:30 p.m. after hearing that investigators were looking for him for the shooting of Taylor. Stapleton is charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder, Criminal Street Gang Activity and a Probation Violation. He was booked into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center on the charges. No bond has been set for Stapleton at this time.
