Bibb Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a “bomb threat” at the Hampton Inn and Suites, located at 5010 Eisenhower Parkway, at around 8:38a.m. It was reported that a caller, later identified as Billie Gary Dayne, placed a bomb in room 236 of the hotel.
Bibb Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies were dispatched to the hotel and immediately cleared everyone from their rooms, taking all occupants and staff to a safe location, away from the hotel.
Deputies found that Dayne was in room 136, on the first floor, directly under the room from where the bomb was to be located. Dayne barricaded himself in the room and would not come out.
Deputies set up a perimeter around the hotel until the Bibb Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. and Bomb Disposal Units arrived to the scene.
At around 9:45a.m., Dayne busted out the window of his hotel room and attempted to flee. Deputies quickly apprehended Dayne and took him into custody.
The Bibb Sheriff’s Bomb Disposal Unit’s K-9 and handler cleared each floor of the hotel and found no explosive devices. No one was injured during this incident.
The hotel reopened at around 11:00a.m., Dayne was transported to the Detective Bureau for further questioning.
Billie Gary Dayne, age 30, from Soperton, Georgia, will be transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center to face charges in connection to this incident.
