Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a person down at Diamond Plastics, located at 7416 Industrial Highway this morning just before 9:00 a.m. When deputies arrived they were directed to the rear of the building where the victim was found. Macon-Bibb County Firefighters were already at the scene.
It was reported that employee, 55 year old John Brooks of Wilkinson County, was found by a co-worker down in a grinding machine with heavy plastic pipes on top of him. The machine was not running. Brooks was unresponsive at the time. Co-workers attempted to get the pipes off of him prior to first responders arriving. Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death. Foul play is not suspected at this time. Brooks was taken to the GBI Crime Lab where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
