Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a Commercial Armed Robbery at Jakes Fireworks located 3377 Mercer University Dr. just after 10:30am Saturday morning. It was reported that a armed black male entered the store brandishing a handgun and demanded money from the store employee ,’24 year old Joshua Collins. Collins told Deputies that the suspect stated he was also going to rob the Jakes Fireworks located at 1406 Gray Highway.
Deputies arrived at the Gray Highway location and were advised by employees that currency was missing from the store and that the back door of the business was open upon their arrival to open the store. The investigation led to further questioning of Collins. He was transported to the Detective Bureau where he was interviewed. During questioning by investigators, Collins stated that he had taken the currency from both stores. Collins was transported to the Bibb Law Enforcement Center where he was booked on the charges of two counts of Fiduciary Theft and False Report of a Crime.
