Investigators arrested a 14-year-old juvenile in connection with the shooting death of Miracle Brantley that occurred last Friday.
The juvenile was arrested for illegally possessing a handgun and taking the handgun into the residence where other children were located. These events led to the shooting death of Miracle. The juvenile is not being charged as an adult and his name cannot be released. The juvenile was taken into custody for the charges of Involuntary Manslaughter, Reckless Conduct, and Possession of a Firearm by Persons Under the Age of 18.
District Attorney Anita Howard says, “Cases that involve young children and violence hit hardest on our community. The District Attorney’s Office worked with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office in this investigation. We are working together to keep our communities safe and ensure justice for the victims and those accused.”
Sheriff David Davis says, “This tragic incident has shocked our community. The sheriff’s office and the DA’s office stand together to bring justice to the memory of little Miracle Brantley.” This investigation is ongoing. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.

Update: Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Person Shot
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigators are investigating the shooting incident of an eight-year-old child inside of a home. The incident occurred in the 2300 block of Ballard Drive, just before 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
It was reported that eight-year-old Miracle Brantley was shot and then transported, by a private vehicle, to the Navicent Hospital for treatment. Deputies made contact with the vehicle and its occupants at the Navicent Hospital. Miracle was listed to be in critical condition.
Friday night, Miracle was flown by helicopter to the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Atlanta. She was pronounced deceased at 8:07 a.m. on Sunday morning. The next of kin has been notified. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still under investigation. Investigators are requesting an autopsy to be performed.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Person Shot
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators are investigating the shooting incident of an eight-year-old child inside a home in the 2300 block of Ballard Drive, just before 4:00 p.m.
