The Bibb County Sheriff’s Outreach Section is inviting residents interested in the daily operations of the new consolidated agency an opportunity to enroll in its 2016 Sheriff’s Citizen Academy. This will be an opportunity for the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office to share in the many roles of a deputy such as how traffic stops are made, arrest procedures, processing a crime scene and operations of the jail. Citizens will have an opportunity to meet Sheriff David Davis and his command staff. They will also have an opportunity to tour the patrol district offices and meet some of the deputies of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The goal of the Citizen’s Academy is not only to give citizens of Bibb County a deeper understanding of who we are and what we do, but also to forge a stronger relationship between the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and the community we serve.

The academy will be held on Mondays, beginning March 7 through April 25, 2016. Classes will be held at the Bibb County Sheriff’s Training Academy, located at 1166 Jackson Street and will begin at 6:00 p.m. The deadline to register for the classes is February 29, 2016. Anyone interested in attending the Sheriff’s Citizen Class needs to call Lt. Ellis Sinclair with the Sheriff’s Outreach Section at 478-803-2701.
