The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred at 2066 Melton Avenue Sunday morning. Just before 4:45a.m. Sunday morning, Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of gunshots heard in the area of Jeffersonville Road and Millerfield Road. Within minutes deputies were dispatched to 2066 Melton Avenue in reference to a person shot. When deputies arrived they found a male, identified as 26 year old Tavares Williams of Macon, shot in the right leg.

At around 4:55a.m., deputies received a call of a person that walked into the Navicent Health Hospital shot in the back. The victim was identified as 18 year old Walter Archer, of Macon. It is believed that Archer was also at 2066 Melton Avenue when he was shot. It was reported, prior to the shootings, there was a large group of people at the house on Melton Avenue. Just before the gunshots were heard, there was an altercation between some unidentified people at the house.

Williams was transported to the Navicent Health Hospital by ambulance. He is listed in stable condition. Archer is listed in serious condition. No further information is available at this time.
