Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Waverly Pointe Apartments located at 624 Forest Hill Road in reference to a person shot, just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. When deputies arrived at the apartment complex they found the victim, Charles Pettigrew, with a gunshot wound to his back.
It was reported that Pettigrew entered an apartment of a female that he knew, unannounced. Pettigrew saw her there with another man identified as Corteles Howard who was visiting her. Pettigrew began yelling at the female and Howard. As he was yelling at them, Pettigrew struck the female in the face. Howard pulled a gun and told Pettigrew to leave. Pettigrew continued striking and choking the female. During the altercation with the female, Howard shot at Pettigrew, striking him.
Pettigrew was transported to the Navicent Health Hospital to be treated for the gunshot wound. He is listed in stable condition. Howard and the female were interviewed by investigators with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
