The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred at 4987 John Kennedy Dr. just after 2:00a.m. Saturday morning. It was reported that 22yr old Antwan Rutherford and his Uncle 45yr old Darnell Stephens had gotten into an altercation outside of their home. It was reported that during the altercation both Rutherford and Stephens retrieved handguns. Rutherford and Stephens struggled and that is when Stephens was shot in the left leg and Rutherford was shot in the back of the head by Stephens. Stephens was taken to the Navicent Health Medical Center and is listed in stable condition at this time. Rutherford was transported to the Navicent Health Center where he was later pronounced dead by doctors. No one else was injured in the incident. Stephens is being charged with aggravated assault other charges are pending.
