Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a person shot at 1633 Woodrow Place at around 8:23 p.m. Friday night. When deputies arrived they found a black male lying on the ground outside the address with several gunshot wounds.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was reported that before this incident the male was involved in an altercation with his girlfriend at the 98 cent store located at 3217 Mercer University Drive. The two were separated by security working at the 98 Cent store. While security was investigating the incident, the man fled the scene on foot. Security gave chase but lost sight of him on Woodrow Place.

The homeowner of 1633 Woodrow  reported hearing a loud crash outside his bedroom window. When he went to investigate he encountered the man coming from behind the home in all black. The homeowner asked the man to stop where he was but he continued approaching the homeowner and was shot. The Bibb County Coroner’s Office is attempting to notify the next of kin. The deceased man’s name will be released once notification is made.
