Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a person shot in the 3700 block of Eisenhower Parkway just before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Deputies found the person shot and location of the shooting in the eastbound lanes of Eisenhower Parkway just before Bloomfield Road.

It was reported that a black Honda, driven by 58 year old Randy Epps, of Macon, and a White Dodge Challenger, driven by 22 year old William Hollingsworth, of Lizella were traveling east on Eisenhower Parkway. The incident started on Eisenhower Parkway near Presidential Parkway. The Honda was reported to be tailgating the Dodge as they traveled east on Eisenhower. Epps pulled over onto the shoulder of the road between Log Cabin Drive and Bloomfield Road. He went back to his trunk and got what was described as a gun out of the trunk. Epps got back into the Honda and caught back up to the Challenger. As the vehicles approached the intersection at Bloomfield Road, Epps pulled up along the passenger side of the Dodge, pointing a gun at Hollingsworth. There was some conversation between the two men. Hollingsworth had a handgun in his vehicle. Hollingsworth grabbed his gun as Epps continued pointing his gun at him and making threats. Hollingsworth fired several shots at Epps and the Honda. Epps was struck by the gunshots. He was transported to the Navicent Health Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Hollingsworth was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office where he was questioned and gave a statement to investigators. Witnesses of the incident were also interviewed by investigators. No arrest has been made at this time. This is a case of road rage where both party’s were participants. The case is still under investigation and will be forwarded up to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
